Oracle Backup To Google Drive: How to Optimize Your Performance and Security with Google Cloud



Keeping the backup in the same hardware could prove fatal when the hardware fails, and almost all the servers are configured to use RAID, using different levels. In such scenarios even if the drives are intact, retrieving the data from raided volumes will be a professional job, costing investment and time.


Install google drive on your Windows 2008 x, Windows 2012 server machine. You may need to install corresponding Visual C++ Redistributable packages in order to come across python related errors. Please read more here for solutions.




Oracle Backup To Google Drive



Once the google drive starts working fine, you can use the following script, which will create a dump file first, then create a zip file against the latest dump file created and then copy the zip file to google drive for cloud synching.


Please note, I have moved the google drive folder from the default location to somewhere else, like E:\Google_Drive to make sure that my batch file has shortest path entry for the copying. If you plan the same, you can change the default location for google drive by exiting the application first, then pointing google drive to your folder of choice when google drive complains about missing default location

The backup script has a dependency on the freely available Google Drive CLI Client (gdrive) project in order for it to communicate with Google Drive. There are several forks of the gdrive project in GitHub, but the version linked in this article is updated to continue working after Google blocked OAuth out-of-band projects.


I was searching how to make backup and restore on oracle 11g in many cases devolpers talk about RMAN but i want to know if there is a more simple and easy solution to restore all elements of my DWI dont need to make a programmed back up at the momentmainly i want a programtically solution to operate in a windows SO

Of course, there were few other unofficial google drive clients available in the past, such as Grive2, Syncdrive. But it seems that they are discontinued now. I will keep updating this list when I come across any active google drive clients.


google-drive-ocamlfuse: works, but so, so, SOOOOO slow for listing. I was running through strace and saw an average time to stat things in a team drive = 3-5 seconds per item. ouch. It did support team drives though.gcsf is much better, but still slow compared to an average file system. I could stat about 10 items per second. (pretty poor compared to any other filesystem, but much better than the ocaml version. This does not support team drive mounting.


after i mount it, can i copy folder that have subfolder and many files on that folder? my plan is, i want to backup lot of file and subfolder automatically to my google drive. please answer me, thanks ?

A full backup is the most complete type of backup where you clone all the selected data. This includes files, folders, SaaS applications, hard drives and more. The highlight of a full backup is the minimal time it requires to restore data.
